The Energy Club WA is pleased to share that Life Member and past President Paul Stone will chair the Club’s 60th Anniversary Committee, leading preparations for a significant milestone celebration in October.
Founded in 1966, the Energy Club WA has, for six decades, provided a forum for connection, conversation and collaboration across WA’s energy sector. This year, the Club will mark the milestone with a major anniversary event on 23 October at Fraser’s, overlooking a city and industry that have grown and evolved side-by-side. The 60th anniversary represents not only a celebration of longevity, but a moment to recognise the role the Club has played in supporting professional relationships, industry dialogue and leadership across generations.
To guide preparations for this milestone, the 60th Anniversary Committee has been established as a dedicated group focused on shaping, planning and promoting the celebration. They hope to deliver an event that reflects the scale, history and significance of the occasion.
Paul has a strong connection to the Club and understanding of its evolution. A member since 2012, he served on the Board of Governors for three and a half years, including two years as President, and was recognised as a Life Member in 2019.
“Chairing the 60th Anniversary Committee is really about helping the Club do justice to an extraordinary milestone,” Paul said.
“60 years is a remarkable achievement for a membership organisation, particularly one that has remained relevant through so many changes in the energy industry. It’s something that deserves to be celebrated properly and shared widely with our community.”
The Committee itself will represent all membership levels within the Club, from Life Members to some of the amazing Young Professionals. This mix of experience and emerging perspectives mirrors the Club’s ongoing commitment to being inclusive, forward looking and representative of the broader energy community. The Committee’s focus is on delivering a celebration that recognises the Club’s longevity, the contribution of its members, and the role the energy industry has played in shaping Perth and the WA economy.
For Paul, the anniversary year offers a chance to pause and reflect, while also looking ahead.
“The 60th anniversary gives us an opportunity to recognise everything the Club and the industry have navigated over the past six decades, from major industry shifts to generational change, while also thinking carefully about how we continue to support collaboration in our industry, mentor emerging professionals and navigate the challenges ahead,” he said.
“At its core, the Energy Club is about bringing people together in a welcoming, inclusive environment, where they can build genuine connections.”
As planning continues, the October event is expected to bring together a range of Energy Club WA community members, including long-standing and Young Professional members, past Governors, Next Generation participants, speakers, sponsors and industry partners. The evening will be a celebration not just of the Club’s history, but the relationships that have been built through the Club over time.
Looking ahead to the event itself, Paul is particularly enthusiastic about the sense of reconnection it will create.
“The idea of walking into Fraser’s and seeing generations of members, past and present, coming together in one room to celebrate the Club turning 60 is enormously exciting,” he said. “It will be a very special night and a great reminder of the incredible community we have built.”
The Club and Committee members extend an open invitation to the entire Energy Club WA network.
“Whether you are a long-standing member, have been involved through the Next Generation program, served on a committee or Board, attended events over the years, or are new to the organisation, the 60th anniversary celebration is an opportunity to connect, reflect and be part of the Club’s ongoing story,”said Paul. “If Energy Club WA has played any role in your career or professional network, I’d encourage you to put 23 October in your diary and join us in celebrating this amazing milestone.”
