Unlocking the Perth Basin potential
The battle for Warrego Energy has highlighted what those with a stake in the Perth Basin have known for a long time – it’s valuable gas real estate.
Now that the battle for Warrego is over – in favour of Hancock Prospecting – the key question is: What’s next?
In a State that prides itself on relatively low gas prices, but with concerns that the finely balance domestic market could face shortages, the Perth Basin may hold the key to future supplies.
In a presentation last month, covered in a separate article in this newsletter, Rystad Energy said that while the Perth Basin accounted for about 4 per cent of WA’s domestic gas supplies in 2022, it predicted that share could rise to 30 per cent by the end of the decade.
Against this backdrop, the Energy Club’s dinner on Tuesday, February 21 promises to be topical and informative, not only on the future of the Perth Basin but potentially also on the Warrego battle.
Five key energy market players will take part in a discussion – Unlocking the Perth Basin potential: Energy opportunities for today and for tomorrow.
You’ll hear from Strike Energy CEO and Managing Director Stuart Nichols; Beach Energy Chief Operating Officer Ian Grant; Mitsui E&P General Manager, WA Assets Andrew McCardle; Infinite Green Energy CEO and Managing Director Stephen Gauld; and Mineral Resources Executive General Manager Energy Shelley Robertson.
Thank you to the event sponsors of the February Industry Dinner; AGIG, SLB, Mitsui E&P, Tasman and Molyneux Advisors.
