On Friday, we held our Next Generation Schools Program Student Expo Day; a fantastic opportunity for students to come together and experience firsthand the excitement, innovation, and diversity within Western Australia’s energy sector.
This event marked a major highlight of our 2025 Next Generation Schools Program, which has focused on introducing students to the breadth of opportunities across the energy industry through school workshops, in-class activities, site visits, and hands-on discovery experiences. The program aims to inspire future talent, build awareness of emerging technologies, and support teachers with high-quality STEM and industry-connected learning resources. This year, more schools than ever engaged with the program, reflecting a growing interest in energy, innovation, and future career pathways.
At the Expo Day, students explored over 20 interactive exhibits, showcasing everything from robotics, safety technologies, and VR simulations, to carbon capture and storage (CCS), renewables, and nuclear concepts. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to dive into industry challenges were truly inspiring. It was wonderful to see students actively connecting classroom learning to real-world applications while engaging directly with professionals across the sector.
We were thrilled to welcome more than 450 students from 17 schools, making this one of our most successful and energetic expo days to date.
We would also like to acknowledge our new sponsor, Bubbles Bites Catering, who very generously sponsored the catering and served a delicious lunch for more than 500 attendees. They were a pleasure to work with, offering a fantastic range of options — we highly recommend them for future events.
I'd like to thank our exhibitors who make this event possible:
INPEX Australia, Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU), Qetra, Baker Hughes, Australian Earth Science Education, Nuclear for Australia, Vertech Group, Edith Cowan University, Woodside Energy, SLB, Beach Energy, Oceaneering, SEAL Energy, Worley, ERGT Australia, Apprenticeship Support Australia, and AVEVA.
Finally, congratulations to our winning schools — Kinross Senior High School, Methodist Ladies' College, and Carine Senior High School, whose students demonstrated outstanding engagement, creativity, and teamwork throughout the day.
With the success of this year’s program, we are already preparing for the 2026 Next Generation Schools Program. We are currently working on our program strategy and look forward to sharing this with you very soon.
